A San Diego man named Jack Ryan logged in for a virtual job interview, according to a widely shared LinkedIn post. It was a bot, not a human, on the other side of the screen. Jack’s expression made it clear that he wasn’t impressed. Nor was I.
Everyone fears that robots will replace them in their employment, but you might be surprised to learn how many are currently considered during the hiring process. It’s far more than resume scanning technology. This is crucial information to keep you ahead of the curve and not left behind if you’re seeking a career shift or know someone who is.
Additionally, I believed Siri to be judgmental
The “hiring manager” in that widely shared LinkedIn post was made by the Australian tech business Fairgo.ai. Asking questions, summarizing the exchange, and sending the summary to the recruiting organization is all that Fairgo’s bot does.
There is no denying that using AI saves time, but what could go wrong? Let me enumerate the other ways AI has failed.
The AI “meal-bot” of the New Zealand grocery store company Pak’nSave recently shared recipes for glue sandwiches and bug spray potatoes. With its threats and declarations of love, Microsoft’s ChatGPT-powered Bing AI alarmed many. My favorite is the McDonald’s AI drive-thru, when a hungry consumer ordered 260 chicken nuggets due to chatbot issues.
so let’s go over some tips.
🗣Be human.
When we mimic someone else’s behavior without even recognizing it, it’s called “mirroring.” You do not want to sound like a robot at the end of your robo-interview.
Act as though you are conversing with a genuine person. Try your best to keep your eyes on the camera.
💬 Make your verbal resume shine.
Prior to your interview, review the job description. Since the AI’s duty is to match your words to the job description, you should utilize phrases from it throughout your CV.
For instance, if the job description asks for “someone with four to five years of experience in a similar role, proficiency in Adobe Suite, and people-management skills,” mention Adobe, work in your people management background, and inform the bot of your years of experience. To avoid seeming like a robot, don’t read the entire job description back to your AI interviewer.
“Where do you see yourself in five years?” is another question the bot interviewer might ask. Don’t respond with “Hopefully alive.” AI bots are unable to
Remember the fundamentals of e-interviews.
Make sure you’re in an area with dependable Wi-Fi that won’t intermittently disconnect.
Make sure the angle of your camera is flattering. Instead of keeping it at chin level, try to maintain it level with your face or slightly above.
Make sure your space is well-lit. If you’re dark, you can use a cheap ring light or turn up the brightness on your screen.
Clear out your background. Choose a simple background if you’re using a virtual one.
Reduce background noise. Both you and the interviewer, human or not, are distracted by a barking puppy or a busy coffee shop.Additionally, don’t respond with “Hopefully alive” when the bot interviewer asks, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Humor cannot be processed by AI machines.
AI is not just used by businesses.
Final Round AI is one of the most widely used job search solutions available today. Interview for the Final Round As an interview assistant, Copilot integrates with programs like Zoom and Microsoft Teams to provide you, the interviewee, with real-time responses. (The paid version starts at $96 a month; I tested the five-minute free trial.)
If at all possible, bring the candidate into your office during the interview process for a critical post. Instead of what the AI they paid for “thinks,” you want to know what they think.
🤓 Celsius and Kelvin went to a job interview, but only Celsius was hired because he had a degree. (Did I hear that moan?)
